Wigan Council is showing its support for Refugee Week and the Simple Acts campaign with a week of truly multi-cultural and mouth-watering dishes from across the world. The award-winning Multifresh catering team has got together to select some of the tastiest examples of often unexplored cuisine from some of the most popular destinations for refugees.
Every lunchtime throughout Refugee Week visitors to the Town Hall Bistro in Wigan are able to sample dishes cooked from scratch including Morah Shekumpour (dish of stuffed chicken with fruits) from Iran; Beef Alicha from Eritrea; and Machbous (spiced lamb with rice) from Iraq.
Wigan Council’s Cabinet Champion for Equality Cllr Ged Bretherton shares our belief that if every person does one simple act it will help us get a little closer to removing barriers between communities and creating the kind of world we all want to live in. “A great way of starting this process and doing a simple act” he says, “would be a visit to the Town Hall Bistro.”
